8th Grade Black History Month Art Work

8th-grade students learned about the many famous black artists throughout history and viewed their different works.

The many artists we focused on were active during the Harlem Renaissance. Artists such as Aaron Douglas, James Lesesne Wells, Norman Lewis, Faith Ringgold, and Jacob Lawrence to name a few.

The project’s objective was to incorporate multiple styles of black artists in one composition.

The frame of the project represents multiple African textile patterns, and the main subject matter background could be in the style of one of the artists; with civil rights quotes, poems, or symbolism. To celebrate Black History Month.
